Breathe in -  Breathe out

I merge behind a truck
Safe -
Following the tail lights -

I once
followed the tail lights of a truck
for 100 miles through a Utah
snowstorm.

Breathe in -  Breathe out

The truck exists
I am on my own.

Slowing
Peering deep

A car passes
No lights on -
No clue

Another
Speeding
Tail lights gone in seconds -
False hopes

Breathe in -  Breathe out

Slowing more
Peering deeper
I move forward

Breathe in -  Breathe out

As I near my destination -
The fog begins to lift and
I am so grateful
