The Dance
One of Life’s Stories
Ted (mid-seventies taller)
comes in the store and heads
toward the mushrooms.
“Just scoping out for Sally.
She is the boss.”
He leaves and returns with Sally
(shorter, a bit rounder with a quick step).
”Sally is here. She is the
decision maker.”
“What do you think, Sally?”
“Ted, which ones do you like?
You choose.”
“No you choose”...
For 50 years, they have
danced this dance.
They know it well.
Watching it unfold -
thoughts of joy -
thoughts of love
They decide and leave -
Smiling and holding hands
(along with Ted’s choice).
So pure and simple I love it
